The Northern Woods

{ CAUTION! }
The Northern Woods is a prohibited place, usually, only teachers from the academy are allowed to enter it. Though there are some rumors about students roaming about there to attempt the "Test of Courage". The forest is said to be dangerous and even life threatening to some. Dangerous creatures roam every part of the forest, traps such as quick sand are there, but hidden, there are even rumors about restless spirits haunting the forest. The temperature there is always colder because of the amount of sun that is able to reach the floor of the forest.

On the brightside, the creatures in the forest never leave the forest, they will never travel out of their territory. Though just in case, teachers are still put on patrol in front of the forest. Despite the unnatural temperature and darkness, it also has a stunning scenery, a huge river runs through the forest and it's most beautiful at dawn and dusk.

Rena's appearance has taken her by surprise, she had a hard time thinking. Vei ran her fingers through her fringe, pushing the annoying bangs back and away from her face before replying. "Oh you know, quicksand, bears, ghosts and stuff." She replied sarcastically, though she chuckled soon after. "Nah, kidding, I was just asked to check out somethin', apparently some dark things live in there, like dangerously dark stuff, couldn't find anything though."

They started to pace into the forest, it was dark, misty and already cold. The trees didn't move, as if time has stopped for them, but the remained their grey-ish green colour. "Not yet. I only took the pathway for safety reasons, and look what happened." She joked, scoffing. "It'll be safe for a while, then there'll be a field of grass, that's where the quicksand is." She warned. "The hills are pretty steep so be careful not to fall."

Vei had a 00.5 second heart attack when Rena had nearly tripped. "Careful there." She said with the worried lopsided smile. Though Vei walked forward to Rena, leaning closer and peering at the rock. Then she straightened her back, thinking for a moment before replying."The sun symbolizes the source of life." She said openly. "I can't think of a reason why it'd be here though. You?"

"Interesting." She thought for a moment. "Let's keep going." She said before walking pass Rena, they were starting to go uphill. "Don't run!" She warned without looking back. The bushes rattled, twigs cracked and creatures that could fly flew across the open forest, she didn't know whether to be cautious of this though. They were pretty much mountain hiking.

Vei turned back around to Rena, but her eyes widened when a shadow rose up, towering above the red-haired girl, casting a shadow over her.
"Rena! Behind you!"
It unleashed a shockingly loud roar that could have shook the ground that they were on. It was massive grizzly bear, it had a strange marking on it's stomach, though now was not the time to care.

Vei already had been hiding behind a tree. Watching it closely. She had a hard time seeing the symbol clearly with the bear moving and all. But finally, she had caught a clear glimpse of it, and she widened her eyes.

It was a devil's trap. Someone trapped a demon inside a bear?! That's reckless! She screamed in her head.
"Rena! We have to get out of here! It's not a normal bear!" She called out.

"Rena!"
Vei quickly removed herself from her spot, running toward Rena's body. The bear had taken notice of her, she cursed. She couldn't risk killing it and letting the thing inside it possess something else! But at this point, Vei had no choice, she looked up, the trees gave an opening to the sky. A lightning bolt struck her, and she absorbed the electrical energy and used it to strike the bear. She didn't have enough energy to electrocute it, but she had sent enough flying volts for it to back away. Vei quickly bit her thumb, blood running.
"Sorry, Rena."
She drew an anti-possession symbol on the motionless girl's palm, and then on her own arm with her blood. She quickly pulled Rena's body up, pulling her arm over her neck before turning around to strike the bear again. It roared and cried painfully. Vei took this moment to her advantage. A dark cloud engulfed Rena's body, transporting her a mile away from here. Vei started to run, hoping to get to Rena before anything else attacks.

Vei continued to run, but running uphill can be tiring. She stopped for a moment to catch her breath. It was only a few minutes later that she heard her name being called. Vei panted, too out of breath to speak. It was risky, but she sent a volt into the sky, causing a vein of lightning to touch the clouds, it was her own flare. She held the vein of light there for as long as she could, 15 seconds to be exact.

"Rena!" Vei called out, grabbing her arm, causing her to hault. She panted, sweating too. "Relax, relax, relax, it's going to be alright, I promise, but we've got to keep it down." She promised, her eyes were large but serious. "There are traps, don't run." She reminded her, slowly letting go of her wrist and straightening her back.
